Ask your travel designer for a whole host of ideas you can do en-route to Oz.

do I need a visa?

yeah mate, you need a visa for Australia. If you are entering as a tourist then you can get a ETA or eVisitor visa. On these visa's you can stay for up to 3 months and you can:-

  • visit family or friends
  • cruise or have a holiday
  • undertake business visitor activities
  • study or train for up to 3 months, in some circumstances

We gotta make it clear (the lawyers said so), visa restrictions change all the time, so make sure you check with the Australian Immigration if you have any questions or concerns. And whatever you do..... don't lie, you will be caught and you will be denied entry.

working holiday visas

If you want to stay longer than 90 days and work to fund your travels round Australia, then a Working Holiday Visa is gonna be your best bet. Your basic eligibility is:

  • Must be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) - except for Canadian, French and Irish citizens up to 35 (inclusive)
  • Must have a passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction
  • Must not be accompanied by dependent children

According to the Australian Government, you need $5,000AUD in your bank account on arrival if you’re coming on a Working Holiday visa. This is a good savings target if you are wanting to either travel for a month or set yourself up for working and living in Australia after your time with with us on our insyte packages. However, we know everybody is different and to give yourself the best chance of experiencing as many things as possible in Australia, we would recommend just saving up as much as possible before you come travelling. The more you have, the more you can do!

when you arrive

we know arriving in a foreign country by yourself can be daunting. we've all done it at syte travel, so we know how you will be feeling. We have put together some great insyte and mini-insyte packages to get you started on your epic adventure down under.

general info

Tax File Number

This is basically a personal identity number created for you by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). It is required if you want to work in Australia, so that you can be correctly taxed on your income from day one.You will provide this number to each employer you have while you are in Australia and your tax will be deducted from your wage accordingly, just as it would be here in the UK. Your TFN is included in our insyte packages, so our team will be able to sort this for you in Australia.

Bank Accounts

You'll need to open an Aussie bank account (included in our insyte packages), like how else will you get your wages? Aussies employers will only pay into a Aussie bank account, and besides, it will save you heaps in transaction & exchange rate fees.

It's a really straight forward process and our team in Australia will be able to get this sorted for you when you arrive.

Medicare

So to be clear, this is NOT travel insurance or a replacement for travel insurance, but is an absolute must to get sorted when you arrive in Australia. Medicare is Australia's healthcare system that allows Aussies and some overseas visitors to access certain health care services at little or no cost. Only a small handful of countries are eligible to apply, including the UK.

Our team in Australia will get you set up with Medicare when you arrive in Australia when you book one of our insyte packages
